Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of WLSync — the mobile app, web app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Who can use WLSync

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you'll keep it up to date. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your password and any connected sign-in methods (Google, Apple) secure.

2. The Service

WLSync lets you track what you watch, sync your Netflix viewing history, build and share custom lists, and follow other users to see their activity. Some metadata shown in the app (posters, cast, ratings, trailers) is sourced from third parties such as OMDb, TVMaze, and YouTube and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate — we do our best to keep it correct, but we can't guarantee it.

3. Cookies and analytics for account holders

Before you create an account, the web app asks separately which optional cookies (PostHog, Google Analytics) you're OK with — see Cookie Policy for what each does. By creating an account, you agree that while you're signed in, all of them are on for your session, alongside error tracking (Sentry) — this isn't separately optional for account holders, since we use it to operate and secure the account itself, not just to measure traffic. Signing out (or not creating an account at all) restores the anonymous, individually-optional choice.

4. Netflix sync and third-party streaming accounts

The same applies to any other streaming or third-party account you choose to connect to WLSync in the future: you use those connections at your own risk, subject to that provider's own terms.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post — comments, list names and descriptions, and profile info. By posting it, you give WLSync a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as part of operating the Service (for example, showing your list to people you share it with, or your comment to your followers). You're responsible for your content and for making sure you have the right to post it.

You agree not to post content that's illegal, infringing, harassing, hateful, or that impersonates someone else, and not to use the Service to scrape, spam, or abuse other users. See our Community Guidelines for the full rules on social features. We can remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or the Guidelines.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service beyond normal use.
• Use automated means to access the Service in a way that could disable, overburden, or impair it.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our consent.
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law.

7. Termination

You can stop using WLSync and delete your account at any time — see Delete My Account for how. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where practical, we'll try to give you notice first.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that metadata pulled from third-party sources will be accurate or available.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WLSync and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, access, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service — including, without limitation, any action taken by Netflix or any other third-party service against your account as described in Section 4. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $50 if you haven't paid us anything.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify WLSync against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where WLSync is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer protection law requires otherwise. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
