Rome 1498. The Borgia family is prosperous due to the great power of Pope Alessandro VI, who is both patriarch of the Borgia family and the the head of the Church. Cesare, the first son, decides to follow his ambition and relinquish his position of Cardinal, second only in power to the Pope.
